Do you really need a Gas Refill?
Air conditioners are designed like refrigerators. They use a refrigerant gas, usually R22, R32 & R410a, to transfer heat energy from inside to outside. The gas runs through a closed-loop system and does not interact with the air on both sides.
Therefore:
Unless there is a mechanical failure or service error on the part of your technicians, you should expect to top up your gas just as frequently as you expect to do so with your fridge.
But in the off chance that you do, this is Ang Family’s Guide to AC gas top-up:
Step 1. Check the gas pressure.
Check the gas pressure with a gas pressure gauge. Here are the corresponding pressures required for different gas types:
R22 - 70psi
R410a - 150psi
R32 - 150psi
Also, note the gas gauge must be connected to the compressor outside. Technicians who can magically test gas pressure from the inside unit use alien technology not accessible to professional companies.
Step 2. Get the prices straight.
If you do need a gas top-up, it is rarely a full refill. Gas prices should be charged according to the amount required.
Here are our prices:
Gas only:
R22:
Half Tank: RM75
Full Tank: RM150
R410a:
Half Tank: RM110
Full tank: RM220
R32:
Half Tank: RM125
Full Tank: RM250
Gas with full service (service price excluded):
R22
Half Tank: RM25
Full Tank: RM50
R410a
Half Tank: RM45
Full tank: RM90
R32
Half Tank: RM40
Full Tank: RM80
Step 3. In the event of a full gas top-up, check for the source of the leak.
If your machine has a leak that requires a full top-up, it is either that your previous technician didn’t seal the pipes properly or there is a damaged part.
Do not do the top-up without fixing the source of the problem!
Our team will make sure the cause of the leaking is fixed before any gas refill is done.
